I was going to say I am lucky enough not to have had an major dental surgery. It is definitely good that you took care of it though as infection can rapidly go systemic.

One of the restrictions that came with the valve implantation process was a requirement that I take a heavy dose of antibiotic prior to any dental procedure. Apparently the bacteria in the mouth can "leak" into the blood through the tiniest wound in the gums which can cause a cardiac infection. The only question is, who writes the prescription: the cardiologist or the dentist?

Thank you, Don. I probably should have gone that route. But the emergency dentist just referred me straight to the oral surgeon. No one mentioned a preparatory course of antibiotics. Glad I’m taking them now. So did your procedure get done? One day at a time.
