Good morning. You're right. We need to breathe. And not give up or in.

Jess Piper shows us ways to resist positively. She lives in Missouri where the people supported a pro-abortion measure. Her state senator has vowed to overturn the amendment. She sent him a short note. "We voted on Amendment 3 and it passed. If I can deal with a lazy, lying, cheating, felon traitor being my President, you can deal with the will of Missourians on abortion."

I have found myself oscillating between fear and anger this past week - it is so easy to do. The question is do I (we) avoid the news altogether? Despite how hard it is to observe, I feel it is still important to stay connected to what is happening.

A friend of mine mentioned this quote in a recent social media post, and I thought I would share it here.

Tom Nichols, in the Atlantic states: “Trump has the soul of a fascist but the mind of a disordered child. He will likely be surrounded by terrible but incompetent people. All of them can be beaten: in court, in Congress, in statehouses around the nation, and in the public arena. America is a federal republic, and the states—at least those in the union that will still care about democracy—have ways to protect their citizens from a rogue president. Nothing is inevitable, and democracy will not fall overnight.”

Thank you for sharing this, Lee. An excellent article from The Atlantic to be read in full if possible.
