You sound a bit like me here, muddling through and writing. And to make matters even more challenging, I signed up for a cohort with Sarah Fay and had trouble with the technology, not so much on Zoom, but going back and forth from my stuff and showing a page on Substack. So, I muddle on and am also one who is interested in, and concerned about ,the future of our free and democratic society. That intensified for me at age 31 when I met MLK, Jr which I have written about here earlier and referenced in other posts as well. Not sure which generation you're in and it doesn't matter. What matters is that you care as much as you do. Thanks for that.

I’m 78 with my next birthday in July, as I used to say between VE Day and VJ Day when I still lived in England. Not sure what we’re called but perhaps The Greatest Generation?

You may be at the edge of the Boomers! At 87 I am a pre-Boomer and those of us in our 70's and 80's have some shared memories, for sure. Lessons learned, I like to say. I published a short memoir on that topic in 2013, "Seven Decades: A Learning Memoir" that highlights some watershed learning experiences over those 70 years. Now, more than another decade has passed and I have learned even more....Whew!

So is your memoir available for public consumption? I try to learn from my elders!

I keep learning from my elders too, most of whom are dead, a few still kicking. And I learn from children, my own and my grandchildren, and people of all ages. "Seven Decades: A Learning Memoir is on Amazon for $5.00 on Kindle or you can get it in paperback.

Thanks, Gary. I’ll add that to my collection when the new month’s finances arrive.

Katharine, thanks for your as always thoughtful comments, and the discussion that followed. When I see some of the AI-generated "speeches" by Trump, Biden and Nixon on YouTube, I'm not sure which ones are real but at least they are labeled fake when fake...so far...but probably not for long.

Oh, Jim. I had no idea things like that existed. I had heard about the fake telephone calls to voters, but I watch only Netflix on the telly. I get my news from NPR and the newspapers. Perhaps ignorance is bliss after all.
