The C Train apple woman knew “waste not, want not”.

If it can't be reduced, reused, repaired

Rebuilt, refurbished, refinished, resold

Recycled or composted

Then it should be restricted, redesigned

Or removed from production.

As for perfection, it’s unattainable. Making it a goal only creates stress and suffering. As a Type A personality and former perfectionist, it took me decades to figure that out.

I had always been confused by the offer of an apple core for a chance to whitewash Aunt Polly's fence. Until lately when I have been purchasing a variety of apples from a vendor at the farmers' market. I bite off big chunks and there is still nibble-able flesh left before getting down to the seeds. The woman on the C train knew that.
