I have spent my life sailing without buoys which sometimes caused a shipwreck but other times I sailed into harbors of lands of enchantment.

Then there's this arresting belly laugh:

Damn. I’m slow witted. I was making something metaphysical and/or poetic out of this, looked it up and found it was part of a joke.

Silly me. 🙃

No, Jim. My post was not a joke. Gary just added one for us all to enjoy.

Sorry, I thought I responded to Gary and what he wrote IS part of a joke.

Is that metaphorical, Jim, or are you a fellow sailor? Either way, I’m glad to hear from you.

I sailed while in the Navy. However, since the Navy I have lived in the desert. So yes, metaphorically. So when you hit that 80 mark, Happy Birthday from me. If informed of exact day I’ll even sing Happy Birthday Katherine out loud.

July 28th. As I posted somewhere else, I say between VE Day and VJ Day. Mum carried both her babies through war time in London.

A lioness. I have a lioness sister.

No, I do not believe in astrology but metaphorically find it useful.

This fits in (sorta) with me replaying the time I borrowed a sailing dinghy from the royal naval base at Faslane (Scotland) and was halfway down the loch with the wind at my face so I had to constantly tack to get back to where I started. That was like 55 years ago. Why it came to mind while I was trying to get back to sleep remains a mystery.

Thank you for sharing, faithful reader, Don A. I do miss my sailing days but realize that each day above ground is a gift now. So, on on . . .

I learned something this morning! I have a fear of the water, having been across both oceans by ship. It just occurs to me that it is odd that I say it that way because there are more than 2 oceans. The storms we encountered impressed me with how small I am and how big the force of nature is. Red-right-returning is now with me. Thank you. .

Yes, Carl. I learned quite a bit this morning about all the various seas there are. I’ve crossed the Atlantic a number of times but not in my dinghy. Thank you for reading my sea story today.
