I remember reading a book with my boys when they were young about Ernest Shackleton and the Endurance. I've been fascinated by him ever since, so I will google the information about Quest. Thanks, Katharine. Also - something we have in common. I too spent part of my career transcribing legal matters into a typewritten (well, computer-written) transcript! I worked at a municipal court and transcribed all the hearings and trials that were appealed, to send up to the superior court.
Thanks, Cherie. What a lot we have in common. And I suspect you shared my umbrage at the questioning of the transcript. Besides of course the colossal waste of precious governing time. P.S. I highly recommend the Mensun Bound book.
A Republican Congressman that dared to cast a vote contrary to the direction of the Cult masters. Why do I get the feeling that he too, similar to the former Republican Governor of Maryland who is now running for a Senate seat that spoke of the guilty verdict of Convicted Felon DJT as being fair and to respect the rule of law, will soon too hear from the RNC “you just ended your campaign.”
OMG, Michael G. I shouldn’t have read your comment as I’m winding down my day. I hadn’t heard about that other guy. I’m putting all further research off until tomorrow. Only calming thoughts before bed.
“Former President Trump’s adviser Chris LaCivita said that former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R), who is running to become one of the state’s next senators, has just ended his campaign with remarks he shared in the lead-up to the decision in the former president’s hush money case.”
“Minutes before Trump, the Republican presumptive nominee, was found guilty on all 34 felony counts in the Manhattan hush-money case, Hogan shared a Thursday post on the social media platform X, saying that “regardless” of the outcome, Americans should respect the legal “process” and the verdict. “
However, today June13, Convicted Felon DJT apparently endorsed Hogan for Senate.
Katherine, I can hardly wait till I’m back home in Canada to read through some more of your posts. I know for sure I will enjoy them tremendously. I honestly thought that at four score years of age, nothing would shock me. Surprise, surprise, surprise, the GQP and the so-called Freedom Caucus can still find a way. On a more positive note, some good news from SCOTUS, they did NOT uphold the proposed ban on mifepristone (hope I spelled it correctly) that was a surprise, albeit a pleasant one.
I know. I was glad to read that headline too. I firmly believe wisdom will prevail because so many of us old folks have the time to rally and save democracy, Irma.

Yes, exactly! I've added the book to my hold queue at the library. Thanks for that recommendation!

This from The Hill.com on May 30:

The RNC must have counted on their fingers to 51.

Katherine, maybe we, the elders, should tell those young whippersnappers on the courts the facts of life. What do you think?
"Don’t get all worried that I am going to bare my soul" I'm worried you won't : )
Thanks for the giggle, Richard.
