Basically, how do we navigate the coming chaos and confusion? Obviously, we have to remain sane and strong—but what’s the best way to accomplish that? My personal take is to do as much research myself whenever I read something that seems suspect. For instance, the other day our local newspaper had an opinion column attributed to one Kevin D. Roberts. But unlike the paper’s usual practice, there was no identifying information to tell us who this person was as he pontificated on current politics. Of course I looked it up to be sure, and I confirmed for myself that he is the President of The Heritage Society. Surely the paper’s readers deserved to know this up front. Other writers are usually given a brief bio below their thoughts. And along those lines, we should all be checking on the names being floated for future cabinet positions (which hopefully will be culled thoroughly by the Senate).
One of the most terrifying, in my opinion, is Russell Vought, another contributor to Project 2025, who was named Policy Director of the Republican National Committee in May of 2024. His name has now been floated to serve once again as Director of the Office of Management and Budget (he served in the prior term of the convicted felon).
Another twisted pretzel of logic almost fried my brain the other day when I decided to research the not-buying-votes-scam of the Musk melon. I found The Federalist Society had weighed in on the subject and honestly I can’t believe they had the cojones to publish it. Almost laughable except that these lunatics may overstep our democratic separation of powers to install the love of Jesus in us all. HELP!
Please do your own research if necessary or turn to trusted sources (many good ones here on Substack, for instance). Those of us with young children or grandchildren should be especially vigilant to stop this backwards slide. The women of my generation are fired up to reclaim our rights, and thanks to the technology available for research we can be focused on calling out the scam that has become the Republican Party. I’m sorry that a lot of really decent people from that party have been steamrolled by the MAGA authoritarians. Perhaps they can reclaim the title and require the nut jobs to take a different name.
I will end with a personal conversation I had with a young man while we were waiting in line at the Post Office. I’m not sure how it started, although I have a tendency to chat with strangers whenever I’m out and about. But anyway, it got around to politics and we discovered that we were both naturalized citizens. The young man had come from Trinidad and has been a citizen for 37 years. I told him I had come from England and was naturalized also. We discussed the fact that we had both voted Democratic and were worried about the coming administration. But I sensed that the young man was palpably afraid that he could get deported whereas I implied that I might voluntarily want to go back to England. He told me he had a friend from the UK who had voiced the same thought. But as we both stepped up to the windows for service, we agreed that staying and fighting here would be the best course of action.
A multi-racial, multi-ethnic, non-state religion democracy is worth preserving because this American experiment is hardly more than a teenager in the grand scheme of history. Please join me in staying strong and causing as much good trouble as necessary. Peace and Love.

Fantastic!
Doesn’t it seem as if our corpus political is being molested as our Democratic leaders are staying low protecting their own bodies? Can leadership be called leadership if it doesn’t lead?
