So that title actually came from a street STOP sign I saw on which someone had written this message. The powers that be had tried to paint over it but it was still visible. I believe this is part of the recovery edict of living one day at a time, and I can certainly embrace that. And then this morning the back of another sign yielded the following stickers: RESIST; Deny, Defend, Depose; and No One Is Going to Provide You with the Education You Need to Overthrow Them (by Anti-Robot).
I also found another beautiful black bird feather on this morning’s walkies. When I stopped to get a refill on my coffee, we discussed the meaning of this color and so I had to look it up when I got home. Various sources tell me that this may have a spiritual meaning of letting go of old patterns and embracing a new beginning. I’ll take that as opposed to other suggestions that black is associated with death.
My last post featured everything but politics, so today I really have to make it clear that I am still very much involved in trying to save the world. It is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain a positive outlook even for a Pollyanna when all around the forces of doom seem to be spiraling. As people of my age realize, the world has never felt as precarious in so many ways as it does today. Whenever I hear of other countries turning rightward, I freak out. Even Japan and Germany have some troubling parties bubbling up. And when I see our idiot-in-charge taking us out of worldwide organizations like UNESCO, NATO, etc. I want to pull out what little hair I have left. His latest junket to Scotland made my blood particularly boil. When he first started building golf courses there, I was definitely on the side of protesting. Talk about a completely tasteless invasion of the serene Scottish countryside. I actually had no idea that he had expanded beyond the first one and was horrified to learn how many he now has. I guess money does talk, after all. I was glad to see the headline of one Scottish paper that called him out as a convicted felon (although I learned that this particular paper represents a faction that wants an independent Scotland about which I would be torn).
Anyway, that’s enough ranting for this morning. Yesterday I renewed my driver’s license for six years as a hopeful wish as I turn 80. But the Triple A people told me that my car has been unregistered since 2021 even though I gave them proof of insurance. So my birthday treat in the morning will be to go to the DMV and get that sorted. I’m not being sarcastic here; it really will be an adventure, and I’m glad to be able to still take care of business. In every respect . . .

Don't worry, there's a lot of Scotland left.
6 years? That is a hoot. I have run on expired tags for a half year. I have in a state where a car has a front and rear tag, put one tag on two cars. That worked for 5 years. But 6 years, that has to be a record.
