I have set this obligation for myself to post on Sunday and Thursday, so I have no one else to blame. But I have to say that I really do not enjoy obligations. Having been self-employed for more than 40 years, with work requests that can be flexibly accomplished, I am completely spoiled. I actually consider my flexibility one of my strengths, however, which resulted in my uprooting and enjoying life in another state for over a decade as we cared for Mum. The work was readily transferable as well, for which I was thankful. And I enjoyed being physically closer to my Mum even though we had always been very close emotionally. So now that I am no longer obligated to anyone else (pussycat even in the ground now), I resent my own regulation. But notice that I have obeyed and am posting, even though it is going to be relatively trivial compared to the OMG drama unfolding at the Supreme Court, etc.
Instead, I just want to comment on something I had never considered before. I view having disposable tissues as a luxury because for years we used cloth hankies, but I realize the sanitary convenience of throwing away a used tissue. So when the local store had a huge sale on a certain brand, I bought six large boxes. Prior to that I got the store brand tissues which are not as soft, and I thought I was treating myself to the luxury brand. Well, it turns out that this particular brand does not feature the pop-up convenience that I have always associated with tissue boxes. In fact, every time I needed a tissue I got annoyed at having to reach into the box and separate out just one. As it turned out, I visited a friend recently and somehow this subject came up. In contrast, this friend resents the hidden nature of the pop-up boxes because she can never tell when the tissues are going to run out. She loves the ones that lie flat. So guess who is now the recipient of my remaining supply!
Having found a home for the rejects, I now feel free to purchase a different brand once I determine how you can tell what delivery system is being used. Anything to keep my mind off the other shit, eh?
Not at all, Michael. I love the details. And I, too, have pockets full of slightly used tissues. Waste not, want not.
I always have to fight with them when I first open them and then pull out 3 or 4. Seems like they used to flow out of the box. 🤔
