Continued Confessions
for what they're worth
I had an idea of what I wanted to confess to this morning, but it has now gone out of my head. So I will just ramble for a minute or two and commiserate with our troubled world.
I do know that this week was difficult for those who heard the insanity spewing from the White House on Easter Sunday. One of my friends even said she wasn’t going to bother making her bed because civilization was going to end. Meanwhile, of course, we all awoke to the continuing chaos another day. I must refer everyone to the great Substack column Narrativ by Zev Shalev who describes what has been happening as one giant pump and dump scheme. I found his analysis extremely clever.
The other point that has really hit home for me this week is the thought of JD Vance rushing over to attempt to influence the “election” in Hungary. His speech disparaging the rest of Europe was disgusting. While the elections in that country have been rigged for years, I do hope that the less obnoxious right-wing candidate can finally topple Orban.
I was disappointed that we didn’t quite pull off a miracle in Georgia, but I guess there’s solace in the closeness of the race to replace MTG. We must stay vigilant and continue to promote the democratic values that have sustained this country for 250 years. Do not let the MAGA crazies have their way. And be particularly careful that you don’t fall for AI-generated propaganda. I did see a video of our so-called President holding a large white flag as he descended his plane (which had been made by someone in Iran, I suspect). But I also saw what I believe to be a factual scene of Pastor Paula speaking tongues and likening the orange blob to the Son on God. Of course, you know that I am determined to preserve the separation of church and state, and actually Hegseth et al. are making converts to my cause every day. Thank you all.
