Time keeps speeding up as I’ve mentioned before, so I want to dive right in this morning to tell you about three women I admire greatly.
I’ll start with Katherine Stewart because as I finished her amazing book Money, God, and Lies this morning, she left me with an afterword which admonished me to put the book down and get active to save democracy. Yes, Katherine, I am trying my best to advance this righteous cause. And I thank you for being on the job for at least the past 15 years. You’ve been warning us very clearly.
Another shout out to Egberto Willies and his Substack entitled “Politics Done Right” which is funny since he is very left leaning. His progressive message brought another fabulous woman into my notice: Dr. Barbara Williams Emerson and scope50.org. She is a daughter of the late great civil rights activist Hosea Williams who was a leader of the march across the Edmund Pettus bridge on Bloody Sunday (which ultimately led to the passage of the Voting Rights Bill). The interview is available on many platforms including YouTube, and I urge everyone to watch it.
And the final woman on my radar this morning is the imperturbable New York Attorney General Letitia James. She is interviewed by Ben Meiselas at the MeidasTouch Substack. Another warrior for justice and she gives me great hope that the rule of law will prevail. Remember how many Attorneys General have been fighting successfully against all the specious lawsuits brought by the lawyers for the orangeman (many of whom should be disbarred, in my humble opinion). Anyway, with Letitia at the helm of an extremely well-organized group we are fighting back nationwide.
My final thought this morning is that I have to go sit down and read my physical newspaper. Just picking it up from the driveway earlier resulted in my going into Afib. For fellow travelers on this paroxysmal journey, you never know when it may hit nor how badly it may affect your daily activities. So far so good, but one minute at a time today.
RESIST ALWAYS
TTN
Attack the lawyers. Their codes of conduct can no longer be mere lip service. I not suggesting that people drag a key down the side of every Tesla but …
OK, I’m confused. I keep reading stories containing facts or what someone is saying. So, is it believed by some Dems that facts and/or speeches will win this battle against the idiot in office?
Yet, more people seem to get their information—or misinformation—from right-wing sources than moderate sources. Isn’t what’s going on in this country a numbers game of true believers?
Let me answer my own question, yes, yes, yes.
I guess all the writings on Substack help keep the embers of hope alive, which leads to another question. In Hitler’s Germany or Stalin’s Soviet Union, were there not people with hope? Did those with hope change anything?
It seems to me that one cannot keep talking about the trash in someone else’s yard if one’s own yard is full of trash. I believe the Democratic Party is filled with self-serving, feckless individuals, working in concert with each other for the exclusive goal of getting re-elected. The Dems do have a couple of leaders like AOC and Crockett. Yet, I’m seeing some rallying around Bernie Sanders who has the advantage of being white and male. Disgusting to me.
