I have never been a sweater. But as we say, Never say Never. My morning walkies in a vey light rain still left me sweating when I arrived home. I have never taken so many showers in my life. In fact, sister and I were talking about our very different life growing up in post-war England. A bath once a week—together in the tub no less—and an orange once a year in the toe of our Christmas stocking.
But let me get back to the present day. In case you don’t already know, I lean very left in politics and always have. So now I am inundated with dire warnings from so many organizations trying to save democracy. One of them that arrived yesterday summed it up very succinctly: “The madness is now daily.” In fact, I sat down at my computer to write to avoid reading my daily paper for a little while. I go to bed very early at night and do not watch or listen to any news after dinner so I sleep very soundly. But once the day is upon me, I spend my entire time keeping abreast as much as possible. Having just given up my work, I am now dependent on Social Security, so my thrifty ways will come in handy. But honestly, I took a picture this morning which encapsulated my thoughts. I won’t post it here, but it is of some pretty little yellow flowers growing atop a drain. My thought was that we must hang on to the beauty of life as we circle that madman-induced abyss.
By the way, in case anyone is keeping track of my teeth (from a previous post), I now have one less because it broke off leaving me with a stump which I find out is a complex removal because it has a J-shaped root. Who knew?. That has occupied me for the past few days and let me tell you the DMV was a picnic compared to arranging emergency dental treatment. I’ll just say thank goodness my daughter had sent money for my birthday.
We are all muddling through and trying to make sense out of life these days. I, for one, firmly believe that sanity will prevail. Let’s just make it sooner rather than later, please.
